Lead responsibility for teaching, learning and research, including academic standards, quality assurance, home/EU student recruitment, FE college partnerships and development of the Hastings campus of the University of Brighton. Chair of the Academic Standards Committee. Line manager for the deans of faculty and the Head of the Strategic Planning Office, the Head of Internal Audit, and the Campus Director of the University of Brighton in Hastings.
Professor Bruce Brown
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research)
Responsible for the university's research portfolio, including the Research Excellence Framework, information services, and economic and social engagement. Secretary to the Professorial Board. Line manager for the Director of Information Services and the Head of Social and Economic Engagement.
Carol Burns
Registrar and Secretary
As Registrar, responsible for the admission, registration and progression of students, and for the framework of academic regulations which govern the university's academic provision. Also responsible for student complaints and appeals, the student disciplinary process and student affairs. As Secretary, responsible for the university's constitution, including the operation of the Board of Governors and the Academic Board, and the relationship between them. Line manager for the Director of Personnel, the Head of the Registry, the Head of Student Services and the Head of Sport and Recreation.
Sue McHugh
Director of Finance
Responsibility for the university's finances, including financial strategy and planning, investments, budgets, financial control, costing and pricing and value for money. Lead responsibility for Accommodation and Hospitality Services, Estates and Facilities Management, and Health and Safety. Line manager for the Head of Finance, the Head of Accommodation and Hospitality Services, the Director of Estates and Facilities Management and the Head of Health and Safety.
Colin Monk
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Business and Marketing)
Responsibility for the university’s regional portfolio, international partnerships and international student recruitment. Lead responsibility for promoting the university. Line manager for the Head of Marketing and Communications and the Director of the Development and Alumni Office.
