Vice-Chancellor’s Office
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Julian Crampton, is the chief executive of the university, and is responsible to the Board of Governors for all aspects of the management of the institution, and for the leadership of its staff.
The Vice-Chancellor is supported by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research), the Director of Finance and the Registrar and Secretary. These six posts make up the Senior Management Team (SMT) for the university.
The members of the SMT work with a small team of administrative staff, with most members of the administrative team having a particular working relationship with one member of the SMT, under the overall leadership of the Office Manager. The senior line management responsibility of the SMT covers both the academic work of the university and the central support departments; colleagues in the VC’s Office therefore receive enquiries across a wide range of topics.
