Professional networking
Annual London networking event – Wednesday 26 September 2012
On Wednesday 26 September over 30 graduates gathered in London for the University of Brighton Alumni Association’s second professional networking event. Hosted by Amex, the event was just a stone’s throw from London Victoria, providing easy access for graduates across London and Sussex to attend.
The event attracted a mix of graduates ranging from experienced Brighton alumni to more recent graduates – and from almost all academic backgrounds. The relaxed environment of the canapé buffet was perfect for face-to-face networking and making new contacts and by the event of the evening graduates were swapping business cards and email addresses. Steven Moran, (MA Change Management) commented that it was a “really enjoyable evening".
The highlight of the event was a fascinating and thought-provoking talk on the topic of ethical consumption followed by an interaction activity presented by two popular University of Brighton lecturers Matt Adams (a psychologist) and Jayne Raisborough (a sociologist). Liz Marks, an MBA graduate commented: “I enjoyed the facilitated session, fun and thought provoking – a great way to get talking to people.”
All funds raised from the delegate tickets will be going directly to the University of Brighton School of Social Sciences Alumni and Friends Fund to be used to support student prizes and other community engagement activities, students volunteering in the community organisations.
We are grateful for the sponsorship of the event by our alumnus Marc Allsop from American Express and given the great feedback we have received, we hope to make this networking event an annual one, so look out for more details next summer.
