Mentor a student

There are two difference ways that you can become a mentor for the University of Brighton.  You can choose to become an ad-hoc mentor, answering just a couple of emails from a student about what it’s like to work in your profession or about your time at university.  Alternatively you could choose to take part in a more formal mentoring programme called Momentum.

Momentum is an award-winning mentoring scheme set up by the University of Brighton Careers Service. It aims to pair university students who wish to gain employability skills and confidence with professionals and managers who wish to share their experience

Students are selected then paired with a mentor from a local business for six months. During this time, students and their mentors meet regularly to exchange ideas and information, allowing the student to develop new skills and enhance their career prospects.

Full training is given to both mentors and mentees so that they can benefit as much as possible from the process.

Please see our Momentum web page for more details.

"This experience has taught me a lot about understanding other people’s point of view and enabled me to take this forward in my role and manage my team and stakeholders in a new light."
