“My Dad fixed up an interview for me with Dr Gordon E Watts, the principal of Brighton Technical College, during the summer of 1950. I remember nothing about the questions Dr. Watts asked me, but the impression of the man himself remains clear, a man of gravitas, lean, measured… the personification of an academic politician.” Read more… (pdf)

“I was an undergraduate at Brighton 1996-99 on the Cultural and Historical Studies degree, so this is very recent "Bygone Brighton". After graduating at Brighton I went straight to Sussex to do an MA in Contemporary History so this project has strong resonances for me. Here are some of my memories… (pdf)
