How do I join the University of Brighton Alumni Association
If you are a former student of the university you automatically become part of our alumni network when you graduate or complete your studies. Membership is free and lasts a lifetime. However we do request that you regularly update your details with any changes that you may have. If you graduated more than 10 years ago all you have to do is register your details.

How do I obtain a copy of my academic transcript / degree certificate?
If you require a duplicate certificate, a transcript, or information about the course you studied at the university (formerly Brighton Polytechnic) or associated colleges, then please contact the Registry department, giving details of your:

Name (maiden name if appropriate)
Date of birth
Course
Date of award

How do I get in touch with my friends from the university?
Due to the Data Protection Act (1998) we are unable to divulge any addresses directly to a third party. However, if you would like to contact any of your contemporaries and friends, we would be delighted to try to help and will let them know that you're trying to contact them.

Could you give me some careers advice?
You are free to request an appointment with the alumni careers development adviser and you can take advantage of the full range of services offered by the university’s Career Centre. These include careers advice, use of computing facilities, CV checking, workshops and employer presentations as well as weekly job vacancy bulletins. I'd like to organise a reunion: can you help?
We can advise you on arranging a venue, mailing lists, budget and accommodation. If you've got an idea for a reunion let us know and we’ll try to help. Find out more about reunions or details of university organised events. You are always welcome to book a visit back to the university too. Do email us if you would like to do this.

I'm an employer, how can I advertise job vacancies to your alumni?
The best way to promote your vacancies to University of Brighton finalists and alumni is through the graduate jobs database. We are happy to do this for you, free of charge. For more information visit the careers centre or email careers@brighton.ac.uk

Can I join/continue to use the university library as a graduate?
Alumni are entitled to continue to use the university's libraries. Membership is free for one year after graduating from your first University of Brighton course and thereafter graduates can sign up for external membership to the libraries at a discounted rate of £40 per annum – a saving of £30 off the normal rate.

To join, just visit your nearest university library and ask for a membership form stating that you are an alumnus of the University of Brighton. Unfortunately membership does not include access to online journals due to licensing restrictions.

Can I join the university’s sports facilities and gym?
Yes, alumni are entitled to use these facilities at a discounted rate. Please take your alumni membership number with you to any of our gyms and they will sign you up. Please email us at alumni@brighton.ac.uk if you do not have your alumni number. Please also take a look at the sporting facilities pages.

Is there any way I can assist current students?
We are always happy to receive assistance from our graduates. Ways in which you can do this include:

  • Mentoring a current student
  • Offering a work placement
  • Recruiting a student / fellow graduate to work for you
  • Supplying a testimonial of your time at university
  • Give a talk to current students about your career
  • Making a charitable donation.

Are there any ways that I can volunteer my services?
We always welcome the expertise and services of our graduates. If you feel that you can contribute in anyway, be it in kind, financially or by giving some of your time, please contact us at alumni@brighton.ac.uk

Can I donate to the University of Brighton?
Yes! A gift to the University of Brighton is an investment for our current and future students as well as the university itself. The university is a registered charity and every gift you make whatever its size will make a huge difference.Your support is vitally important to Brighton's future.
