New chapter with Santander Universities
The university has recently signed a second agreement with Santander, through its Santander Universities Global Division, which will provide £75,000 per annum for the next three years in the form of grants, awards, scholarships and other financial support for our staff and students.
In total, 86 awards have been made to members of our student and staff community during the first agreement. The new agreement continues to offer masters scholarships as well as awards for outstanding student volunteering/community engagement and travel grants for both students and staff. In addition, awards will now be offered to students and recent alumni for enterprise and scholarships for outstanding research students. Full details of the funding streams will be posted online at www.brighton.ac.uk/santander.
The Vice-Chancellor commented: “The university has clearly benefited from our association with Santander in many ways, but what remains fundamental to the success of our relationship is a willingness to discuss changing needs and future priorities and the ability to respond to these quickly on both sides. We will continue to enjoy developing shared interests and to explore new opportunities as they arise.”
Luis Juste, director of Santander Universities, agreed saying: “The University of Brighton embraced Santander Universities from the moment we started our activity in the UK and we are delighted to renew our original agreement for a further three years.”
A weekly drop-in session is now offered by the branch team at the Falmer campus for staff and students every Tuesday in the Atrium of the Checkland Building from 11am–2pm, as well as making visits to the campuses in Eastbourne and Hastings. The branch continues to promote preferential offers to all university staff and details of the latest offers can be viewed at:www.santander-products.co.uk/universities.
