Student prizes, awards and grants

A variety of prizes, awards, grants and other funding opportunities for students are currently available across the university. These have been established through the generosity of alumni, friends and organisations (as well as a number created by schools or faculties themselves) and seek to recognise and reward achievement amongst our student community.

In many cases, academic achievement is rewarded, but there are a growing number of awards which are given on the basis of extra-curricular achievement, for example, for leadership, in response to outstanding contribution to a project/school or as the result of volunteer service.

These awards help to motivate and encourage our students to achieve during their studies with us and many recent graduates acknowledge that being able to cite the receipt of awards in their CV greatly assists them in their search for employment after graduation.

We have listed below the current prizes on offer by faculty and also have included links to those prizes, awards and grants which are not associated with a particular academic area of the university.

In terms of value, these awards are on average in the region of £250-£1000 per annum and are often named in recognition of the individual or organisation which established the award.

We would very much like to increase the number of awards on offer, especially in those schools/faculties where currently the number available is lower. If you are in a position to establish a new student award or funding opportunity, either as a private individual or via your organisation, please contact the Development & Alumni Office via giving@brighton.ac.uk and we will be delighted to help you.
