Why give?

The Brighton Effect: making a difference

Giving to the University of Brighton helps to find solutions to real-world problems, educates the next generation of experts and leaders and provides links with business and the community on your own doorstep.

It may surprise you to learn that the University of Brighton is a charity, just like Oxfam, Marie Curie Cancer Care and others that you know and may even give to. The only difference is that we are exempt from having to register because our governance structures are considered so strong. In fact “advancement of education” has been considered charitable since the 1600s.

We may share much more with your own chosen charities than you realise; we’re leading the fight to find a cure for diabetes, finding ways to produce greener engines for our cars, researching ecologically friendly construction methods and materials, promoting healthy living, and are involved in the building of a primary school in a village in Nepal. Not forgetting of course, our central purpose; the advancement of education through our teaching and learning.

We are committed to providing a high quality education at the University of Brighton to everyone, regardless of their financial or personal circumstances. To do this we need to invest in excellence; our best students, state-of-the-art facilities, and high quality teaching and research. Donating to the university means that we are able to support these things; things that make the university a better place to study and work.

There has never been a better time to join the numbers of graduates, organisations, friends and supporters who have made the decision to donate and stand up and be counted amongst those who want to make this university a better place.

Make your Brighton effect.
