Christopher Adams
Master of Science
Chris was captain of Sussex County Cricket Club for 11 years, the longest anyone has held this position. He was the first person to lead the team to victory in the county championship, which he did three times in 2003, 2006 and 2007. He also achieved success in 2004 when he was named as one of five Wisden’s Cricketers of the Year.
Adams made his debut in 1988 as an 18-year-old, playing cricket for Derbyshire. He stayed there until 1997 when he left to join Sussex County Cricket Club as its team captain. Whilst at Sussex he also had a brief international career. This included playing in five Test matches and five one-day international competitions. He made his Test debut in 1999 against South Africa. Overall, his professional cricketing career lasted for 20 years until 2008.
Chris has also shown a flair for business. In 2007 he and his brother David, also a professional cricketer, launched specialist sports equipment supplier Pro4Sport, giving amateur sports people access to equipment of a quality used by professional players. The brothers then branched out with other related websites. Chris is currently cricket manager at Surrey County Cricket Club.
