Class of 1980s

Kong Leong BEng(Hons) Civil Engineering 1980
I worked as an Engineer in the Drainage & Irrigation Department, Sarawak for 25 years and opted for a premature retirement in 2006. In between, I went to Heriot-Watt University (1989–1990) to do an MSc in Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering. I have been a writer (in Chinese) ever since I was 10 and have published six books (essays and short stories) over the years.

Glenda Cheesebrough BEd(Hons) Physical Education 1984
After over 20 years teaching and coaching hockey in Hampshire, the family emigrated to New Zealand in 2007. I took the opportunity to study Organic Horticulture and now look forward to living the 'good life' in an old Art Deco house situated on Banks Peninsula, 200m from the beach, pumping water from the stream and feeding 'chooks'. I'm still involved in sport as a parent of two energetic teenage boys and coaching at a local primary school.
