Computer skills
Information Services schedules a free programme of ICT and information skills workshops covering a range of skills and software including an Introduction to using computers at the university, Managing your bibliographies using EndNote Web and Staying Safe online.

IT trainers also run drop-in sessions on each campus where you can bring along your own work and get help and advice trouble shooting essays, presentations and picture editing. Dates are published below and in the computer pool rooms during term time.
There is also a wide range of self-guided learning material available online for free.
Computer helpers are also on hand in the evenings to help you when using computers in the student pool rooms. Look out for them in their orange T-shirts.
Drop-in sessions
Our IT training staff will be offering a drop-in service near the main computer pool rooms in the run up to assessments and hand-ins.
At these drop-ins we will be able to offer support and training for using applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop* and MindGenius for mind-mapping*, with a view to helping students with problems they are having with essays and assignments.
*Photoshop assistance will only be available at Grand Parade. Mind-Genius assistance will not be available at Grand Parade.
Please note that these drop-ins will not offer support for technical problems with hardware.

Online Training Guides
Need to build your confidence using Word, PowerPoint or Excel? Or would you like some inspiration for essay planning and revision? There is a large selection of useful free IT training guides and videos accessible on www.brighton.ac.uk/is/computer_skills Each section is designed for self-guided learning and takes you through each new technique step-by-step using example files that you can download and work on yourself. There are guides and videos for complete beginners through to those looking to build upon existing skills. Topics include:
