Frequently asked questions

1. Are there any places left?
Please contact the admissions team (01273 642502) to check on the availability of spaces.

2. When is the latest I can submit an application?
Applications can be submitted up to 28 days prior to the start date of the course. Please also be aware of the time constraints involved in the application and enrolment processes as well as obtaining a visa if you are an international applicant.

3. How long does it take to process my application?
Usually we require at least 14 working days to process an application as long as the application has all the required information correctly supplied.

4. What are the language requirements?
If English is not your first language you will be required to have an IELTS minimum score of 6.5 overall with a 6 in the written test OR an equivalent level university recognised English proficiency qualification.

Important Note:
Qualified applicants who are close to the required level of English language competence (for example, IELTS 5.5 or 6) may wish to apply to one of the University’s English language preparation course.

5. When does the course start?
You will be required to enrol at the end of September. Normally, each course begins with an introductory programme when you will have a chance to meet the tutors and class members. The classes follow-on from this, usually at the beginning of October.

6. Do you have a January or February intake?
No, our only intake is in September.

7. Can I study part-time as an international student?
Not usually. This is due to difficulties in receiving visas to study part-time.

8. Can I complete the course quicker?
It is not possible to complete the one-year full-time courses any quicker. However, we hope to finalise details of express routes through some of our part-time courses. Please ask the course leader for details.

9. Do I have to pay my course fees in advance?
No, your fees are payable once you have enrolled and commenced your course.

10. How do I pay my fees?
Fees can either be paid in full at the commencement of the course, or by two instalments, one in November and one in March. Alternatively, it is possible to pay in 6 instalments by direct debit.

11. Are there any scholarships?
Yes, there are a limited number of scholarships. Please follow the link to see application requirements: Application Requirements.

12. When can I apply for accommodation?
International students can apply for university accommodation once they have accepted their unconditional offer. Other students can receive help and support finding accommodation from the Accommodation Office. See below for contact details.
