Graduate Certificate in Management

Taught in-house, the Graduate Certificate in Management is a bespoke training solution for organisations looking to develop leadership and management skills in existing staff. Courses are carefully tailored to address company-specific requirements.

A key strength of the Graduate Certificate in Management is its flexibility. You can choose from a wide selection undergraduate modules, making it well suited to meet organisational and individual needs. Employers are invited to participate in a training needs analysis.

The course will appeal to staff who wish to broaden their knowledge of management and gain a graduate-level management accreditation relevant to their workplace.

Why Brighton Business School?

We have a proven track record of engaging successfully with business locally and nationally and providing bespoke development programmes. We are able to be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of individuals and organisations, at the same time as ensuring that high-quality standards of teaching and assessment are maintained.

Our lecturers have many years' experience of delivering high quality education. Their teaching is informed by industrial experience and ongoing research activities.

How is the course delivered?

The Graduate Certificate in Management can be delivered on a weekly basis, in teaching blocks or a combination of the two. Again, the needs of the organisation will be taken into account when agreeing the mode of delivery. It will be supported by student learning sets, involving working on real problems and developing and implementing solutions to those problems.

Learning will be delivered via a combination of lectures and workshops. The emphasis is on developing learning ability and independent study skills. Overall it is anticipated that a typical student will devote 10-12 hours a week to their course over a one year period.

Can the training be delivered by in-house staff?

We work in close partnership with training departments to make the best use of in-house expertise. This reduces costs and ensures bespoke and relevant content. Similarly, we are happy to assess in-house training programmes and work with employers to identify ways in which these can be accredited.

Assessment

Each of the modules will be assessed separately. Assessments incorporate work-related issues, allowing for immediate transfer of knowledge from the course to the workplace. They include a mixture of written assignments, videos presentations, reports and case studies.

Dual award route

This programme can also be delivered as dual award whereby students achieve two qualifications: a Graduate Certificate in Management and a Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Diploma in Management and Leadership.

Because the dual award is mapped to the CMI Diploma in Management and Leadership there is limited flexibility regarding content. However, the benefit of this route is its combined academic and professional legitimacy. More details about the dual award route.
