The Careers Service can help you find a career path, develop the skills you will need to follow it, and get a job after graduation.
Career Guidance
You can speak confidentially to a professionally qualified Careers Adviser to discuss your plans, generate some ideas or just have your CV checked. Careers Advisers work closely with your tutors and together ensure that employability is included within your academic study. In addition you can get a wealth of information from the Careers Service's web site which is updated daily with news on exciting opportunities and events.
Employment
The Careers Service is contacted everyday by employers wishing to place gradaute and part time vacancies and you can access these by registering onto our vacancy and events database. The events programme on the database includes a range of opportunities for you to identify and develop employability skills which you need to accompany your degree to get a job after university. Such events include certificate awarded Employability Skills Programmes, Careers Fairs and recruitment presentations from employers.
Volunteering
The award winning Active Student Volunteering Service can help you find a volunteering opportunity which will develop your transferable skills, enable you to meet new people and give you that reward of doing something worthwhile for your local community. Thousands of students have used their placement to improve their CV, learn new skills and make new friends.
Enterprise
The university's enterprise network, beepurple, aims to develop the enterprise skills of students, staff and alumni. Whether you hope to start a business immediately after university or in the future, you can get key business skills and support from free evening workshops held every month that give you the edge on other graduates.
