Brighton Business School has launched two new degree courses for 2012 entry. Business Management with Economics BSc(Hons) and Business Management with Human Resource Management BSc(Hons) will provide students with a combination of core business knowledge and highly valued specialist expertise.
A distinctive feature of both courses is the work placement year. On placement students will gain work and life experience (and a salary). It will significantly add to their CV and many students return to university for their final year with firm job offers.
Practical and personal skills development is central to both courses. Students will develop expertise in project management, report writing, time management, presenting, budgeting, team working, flexibility and leadership.
Business Management with Economics BSc(Hons)
This course will equip students with the skills necessary to relate economic factors to real world issues that influence business. It will provide students with the skills needed to apply economic techniques to the strategic business planning process, use economic theory to assess market conditions, and critically appraise different business strategies.
The combination of business and economics will be relevant in many business management careers, and particularly within the financial services and investment banking sectors. This course will particularly appeal to students looking for careers in general business management, finance, consulting, business analysis, and strategic management and planning.
Business Management with Economics is ideal for students who wish to study an economics course without a highly mathematical aspect to it.
Business Management with Human Resource Management BSc(Hons)
As companies become more aware of the importance of human resource (HR) functions and the need to recruit and retain the best workforce, graduates with HR skills are becoming increasingly sought after.
This course will enable students to apply the principles and processes of human resource management to help organisations to meet the challenges of managing and developing staff.
It is excellent preparation for working in areas such as employee relations, employment legislation, recruitment and selection, performance appraisal, pay and benefits, consultancy, health and safety, training and development.
