The University of Brighton has climbed 17 places in the latest Guardian University Guide league table for business and management studies.

Business and management studies at Brighton is ranked 58th compared to 75th last year in the table which compares 120 higher education institutions.

Professor Aidan Berry, Dean of Brighton Business School, said: "We are pleased that the developing success of Brighton Business School is recognised by the Guardian University Guide. This considerable achievement clearly reflects the energy and ambition of both students and staff."

"As one of the most popular universities in the south-east, Brighton offers an extensive range of academic and professional degrees underpinned by experienced and innovative teaching and world class research. Our graduate employment record and National Student Survey results show our courses are delivering what our students require."

The Guardian table was compiled by an independent consultancy. It ranks universities according to student satisfaction with their course, teaching and assessment and feedback based on the National Student Survey, spending per student, student/staff ratios, graduate career prospects, entry tariff, a value-added score that compares students' entry qualifications with their final degree results.

The University of Brighton as a whole has risen nine places, coming 64th compared to 73rd last year and 78th the previous year.
