Brighton Business School is launching a new centre which aims to bring together research groups across the school. The Centre for Interdisciplinary Management and Education Research (CIMER) will provide support to its member research groups, stimulate enthusiasm and facilitate the mutual exchange of resources and ideas.

The following research groups are brought together under the new CIMER umbrella:

  • Business eLearning
  • Community Business - Impact, Strategy and Technology Management (CUBIST)
  • Economic and Social Transition
  • Entrepreneurship and Enterprise
  • Management and Organisational Development Research Unit (MODRU)
  • Marketing Research

Heading up CIMER, Steve Reeve said 'The new research centre will nurture a critical mass of like minded colleagues, act as an incubator to new interests and offer smaller research groups a voice in research policy.'

'Much of the CIMER-based groups' research derives from problem focused, practice embedded work. However, it shares the public dissemination ethos to be found across more traditional approaches to research.'

'Our philosophy is that dissemination of research to students, both within and beyond the faculty, is an important activity. CIMER members have provided an impressive range of research-driven course modules; at Brighton we see this as a particularly important contribution to research impact.'

'We look forward to taking up the challenge of delivering to students and contributing to the curriculum, as well as influencing policy-makers at local, national and international level.'

CIMER is the third research centre based at Brighton Business School. The existing two centres are the Centre for Research on Management and Employment (CROME) and the Centre for Research in Innovation Management (CENTRIM).
