Kick-starting careers in IT consultancy
FDM is an international IT services company with clients across the globe including HSBC, UBS, BSkyB, Deutsche Bank, Detica and Virgin Media. The company has its own in-house graduate training programme, the FDM Academy, which trains graduates to a professional level, building their careers as IT consultants.
In addition, the academy now offers its most successful trainees the chance to extend their studies to gain an MSc in Applied Computer Science, which is validated by the University of Brighton.
This unique initiative allows FDM's chosen candidates to work full-time for FDM whilst studying part-time and working on a dissertation project which is relevant to their job. All tuition costs are met by FDM.
"This partnership is hugely exciting for both the university and FDM. We are passionate about training graduates to kick-start their careers within IT and we will continue to encourage graduates to pursue a career in the IT sector," says Chief Operating Officer at FDM and University of Brighton graduate, Sheila Flavell.
Successful graduates receive their awards at the university's traditional award ceremonies, having had all work jointly supervised by the University of Brighton and FDM and fully assessed by the university.
FDM is based in Brighton, the company's first location, and employs a number of graduates from the university each year.
