University granted awards

The University of Brighton has won two new Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) grants, bringing the total number of successful KTP submissions in the year to April to 17. KTPs, part-funded by the government to provide a graduate to work on a project of strategic importance to the company with the support of an academic, have brought the university grants totalling almost £2million.
One of the new awards, worth £144,000, will be used to develop a capability for evaluation, design and fabrication of low cost, high-energy performance, high-quality temporary homes with integrated heating and ventilation systems.
The university will be working for more than two years with Fosse Plumbing BSC Ltd, trading as Jetseal, which is based in Wimborne, Dorset.
The second KTP, worth more than £112,000, is with C.B. Davies Gilbert and The Gilbert Estate, an Eastbourne leisure business taking in the Beachy Head landmark and the Tiger Inn pub at nearby East Dean.
The two-year programme will produce a comprehensive business review, identify and implement processes to strengthen partnerships, improve sales, expand communication channels and identify and deliver new products and services.
