Clare Griffiths wins 'Enterprise Champion'

Published 9 December 2009

Clare Griffiths has won a National Enterprise Educator award for her work in enterprise and entrepreneurship at the university.

She became 'Enterprise Champion' for her success in developing Beepurple, the university's entrepreneurial network, and her strategic role with the faculties in raising the profile of entrepreneurship through learning and teaching.

Clare said: "I think I won for practising what I preach, for good practice, being innovative and having an entrepreneurial approach to my workshops and training sessions."

The awards were run by the National Council of Graduate Entrepreneurship (NCGE), a key national body set up by Gordon Brown in 2004 to support universities in developing entrepreneurial graduates. Ian Robertson, chief executive of the NCGE, described the work being undertaken at the university as "trailblazing".

Clare saw off competition from Birmingham City, Leeds Metropolitan De Montfort and several other universities to win £1,000 which she will spend on personal professional development.
