Health and biomedical expertise

Healthcare, pharmacology and medical devices

We have dedicated researchers working across the areas of health and biomedical science, from nursing and public health, to biomolecular science and engineering. Our researchers collaborate and work with businesses, not-for-profit organisations and the public sector in a number of ways, from developing bespoke health professional training to designing and testing medical devices.

Highlighted projects and case studies

Diabetes

New studies, led by Adrian Bone, Professor of Cell and Molecular Biology, have shown that viral infection may play an important role in triggering the development of diabetes, especially in children. This opens up the possibility of producing a vaccine that could ultimately significantly reduce the number of children who develop diabetes. More about Professor Adrian Bone
