Workforce development and education

University of Brighton delivers training and professional development that's relevant and complementary to today's workplaces in a number of forms.

Flexible employer-focused education

We offer highly flexible, employer-focused higher education and staff development through our Centre for Work and Learning. You have a choice of content from educational partners in Sussex, brought together in a bespoke combination to suit your workforce’s unique development needs. You can also add elements of your own existing in-house training.

This service offers an efficient way to provide your employees with relevant higher-level education, which fits around the demands of their job and can be delivered at the workplace or online, at convenient intervals to suit you and your staff.

Award-bearing courses can also be tailor-made to suit the specific needs of your particular organisation. For example, international IT consulting company FDM now integrates an MSc in applied computer science into its training programme for newly employed graduates.

Flexible graduate certificate in business management

The Graduate Certificate in Management provides bespoke, higher-level education designed to address company-specific requirements. Taught in-house, and with a broad range of modules to choose from, it is ideal for organisations looking to develop leadership and management skills amongst their existing staff. This course has been designed for first-level managers who need to develop their knowledge of management and gain graduate-level management accreditation which is relevant to their workplace.

Quality assurance for your in-house courses

We can also work with you to quality assure your own in-house learning programmes through our Recognising Educational Quality scheme. This has two major benefits: it ensures the quality of content and delivery, and gives your employees a formally recognised qualification.

The Priory Group has been working with the university to create a quality-assured training course for its care staff. "We were looking for guidance from the university to ensure that what we were planning to do was in line with current best practice and provides the optimum learning outcomes."

Janet Cowie, group learning and development manager, Priory Group The programme has been developed in-house but will carry the Recognising Educational Quality (ReQ) mark from the University of Brighton, which signifies equivalent rigorous quality standards in workplace educational programmes.
