Funding for training

Training vouchers

The University of Brighton has been awarded Government funding to support businesses of any size who want to train their staff.

Training vouchers worth up to £500* are available for you to send individual members of your staff on university courses. If you want to train a number of staff, we can work with you to create a new package designed specifically to meet your training needs. We can even bring our courses to your premises and work with your whole team.

To learn more about how to apply for Training Vouchers, or how you can work with the University of Brighton to build the capacity of your workforce, contact us on traininganddevelopment@brighton.ac.uk or call us on 01273 643577.

Bursaries for open courses

We are able to offer a limited number of bursaries to support people from small companies (fewer than 50 employees) attending any of our open courses*.

Bursaries are valued at £200 per person for four to five day courses and £100 for two or three day courses. Bursaries are limited to one per company per calendar year. This amount will be deducted from the total fee payable for the course.

You should apply for the bursary in writing, either in a letter or email from the chairman, chief executive or managing director of your company. It should:

  • confirm that the company has fewer than 50 employees
  • give a brief description of the business of the company
  • state the course you wish to attend and the benefits you hope to gain from attending the course.

If you are eligible for a bursary, you will be notified within 10 days of receipt of your application that you have been successful and will be sent all the necessary paperwork to enrol you on the course.

If you have any queries about bursaries please contact Barbara Gretton on 01273 642617, email Barbara Gretton .

Applications for bursaries should, wherever possible, be made at least two weeks before the start of the course.

Applications should be addressed to:
Barbara Gretton

* Bursaries can only be claimed for attendance at a complete course, ie not against part of a course, where independent elements exist.
