The Careers Centre aims to deliver an effective and responsive careers service through the provision of quality guidance, education and information. This supplements the personal development programme and information provided by the students academic department, as part of the Career Planning Agreement.

 

Public Relations (PR)

Employers of public relations officers include advertising/marketing agencies, Aerial street view of a large group of people consultancies, commercial and industrial organisations, private companies, retailers, manufacturers, charities and government organisations. Although it can often be hard to define, PR in essence, is about managing reputation and perception and establishing good relationships with key stakeholders. Making speculative applications

You may be having difficulty finding vacancies in your field, or you may be interested in working in a very competitive field, for example, media and A pen resting on a sheet of paper the arts. In this case you may wish to contact employers directly about the possibility of working for them. This is called making a speculative application. Depending on who you ask, you’ll hear that 60-75% of jobs are never advertised. If you find a company you would really like to work for, a speculative approach could pay dividends. VACANCY OF THE WEEK: Marketing and PR Executive - part of the University of Brighton Internship Programme
LOCATION: Arundel, West Sussex
SALARY: £6.00 per hour (reasonable travel expenses paid)

Edgecumbe Tea and Coffee Company Ltd are looking for someone to work on developing a PR campaign to improve the profile of the business. This will allow the company to pitch for larger volume contracts from private and public bodies. University of Brighton Internship Programme - now accepting 2010 graduates!

We are pleased to announce we can now accept applications from anyone who graduated this summer. If you have graduated within the last few years you are also eligible for our new Internship Programme.
The programme offers 222 hours of paid. graduate-level work to keep your skills up to date and potentially help you into employment. There is also a one-day Employability Skills workshop where you will get training in CV writing, mock interviews and other workplace-related skills and job search techniques.
The programme is open to all graduates from any UK institution who have graduated within the last few years and who are unemployed or under-employed (i.e. not in graduate level employment).
