The Employability Skills Programme is designed to help you develop your career plans and improve your employability skills. All students are welcome to attend, you can book on a session at any site we're running a programme and – it’s free!

Career planning and CV/application tips
Monday 25 February, 12-1pm

Not sure what you want to do? Or how to find out about your career options? There is a wealth of resources to help you! This workshop will show you how to access these resources to help with career-planning, and show you some tips on writing CVs and job applications. Facilitated by Jo Bevan, Careers Counsellor.
Presentation skills part 1
Monday 11 March, 12-1pm

This workshop will provide you with tips and strategies to increase your confidence when presenting to an audience. We will also look at how you can develop your presentation skills. Facilitated by Jo Bevan, Careers Counsellor, and Sue Burnett, Curriculum Development for Well-being, Student Services.
Presentation Skills part 2

The fun bit! Your chance to put the theory into practice and get constructive feedback. Students will need to have attended Presentation Skills part 1 on Monday 18 March. Facilitated by Jo Bevan, Careers Counsellor, and Sue Burnett, Curriculum Development Worker for Counselling and Well-being, Student Services.
Going for job interviews
Tuesday 16 April, 12–1pm
HAP 201
Learn how to prepare effectively for a job interview and to make that preparation count on the big day. This workshop will tackle a wide range of question types, including those really tricky questions that interviewees dread. Facilitated by Jo Bevan, Careers Counsellor.
Effective networking and use of social media in your job search
Tuesday 30 April, 12–1pm

Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn.....you probably already use social media to catch up with your peers, arrange a night out or stalk old school friends, but are you also using it to enhance your career, network with employers or find a job? This session includes strategies, tips and examples of how the use of social media can help you find that dream job. The presentation will cover social media etiquette, networking techniques and how each tool can help you get noticed by prospective employers. Facilitated by Rachel Page, Student Services Information Manager.
