Recruit a graduate intern

A graduate intern can bring new skills, fresh ideas and a different perspective into your organisation on a short term basis. This might be for a specific project, or to increase your capacity at a certain time.

Internships are cost-effective and flexible and can also be very useful if you are looking for full-time employees, as the internship phase offers you the opportunity to develop the graduates’ capabilities within your business.

How the process works

The university’s careers service offers full support to you and your intern throughout the length of the programme.

We can help you to identify and develop the graduate-level project your intern will complete, and then manage the whole recruitment process for you; promoting your role to recent graduates, handling enquiries and initial selection. You simply need to interview the short listed applicants and take the successful intern into your business as you would any other employee.

We ask employers to build elements of skills development and progression into the project, so that the intern also gains maximum benefit from their time with you.

At the end of your internship you have the opportunity to choose whether to end the employment, or offer your intern a further contract should you feel they suit the business and you have suitable work available for them.
