Innovation Award
Two entries from MSc in Trauma and Orthopaedics students, Fraz Dakhil-Jerew and John Shepperd shared the student prize:
'Disc tissue repair using fat stem cells' and 'The pin'.

Two entries shared the staff innovation award:
Team of staff: Dr Laurence Hopkinson and Dr Ken Rutt, both School of Environment and Technology - 'Green Economic Minerals from CO2'.
A novel fire retardant, synthetic material that absorbs CO2 during its production.
Team of staff: Dr Ray Whitby, School of Pharmacy, Professor Andrew Cundy, School of Environment and Technology and Professor Toru Maekawa from Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology - 'RoCOCO'.
A method to reduce the level of critically opalescent CO2 from around the globe.
Entrepreneurship Award
Student: Linzi Ryan, Product Innovation and Development MSc - 'UV liquid hand hygiene'.
A device and method which guarantees sterile hands.
Staff: Dr Anne Mandy, School of Health Professions - 'ESP Wheelchair Kits for Hemiplegic users'.
A wheelchair that allows independent mobility for stroke wheelchair users.
Social Enterprise Award
Graduate: Georgie Sworder, BA 3D Materials Practice - 'Artists’ Social Enterprise for Brighton'.
A social enterprise hub for artists in Brighton.
Staff: Kathy Martyn, School of Nursing and Midwifery -'Kids Kitchen'.
A cookery club developed by children so they can cook, taste, eat and talk food.
