Team of Students: Lauren Goggs, Matt Hacker, Ioanna Zacharis and Emma Brand, all students from the Brighton Business School - ‘Pay As You Pedal’.
A bike-sharing scheme that encourages sustainable transportation around the city of Brighton.
Social Enterprise Award
Aneta Smaga, a student from Brighton Business School, working with Alasdair Walmsley, Richard Mehmed and Stewart Walton from the National Wood Recycling Project - ‘Online Catalogue of Wood Recycled Products’.
Providing work opportunities for the unemployed to create new furniture from reclaimed wood, which is then sold online.
Trading Graduate Award
1st place – Dr Hal Sosabowski, for his range of science-based trumps games

Research Group Award
Two teams of staff entries shared this award:
Professor Morgan Heikal, Dr Steve Begg and Nicholas Miche of the School of Environment and Technology - ‘The 2/4 Switching Engine’.
A new type of engine which can switch between a two-stroke and a four-stroke system and promises to cut fuel consumption.
Professor Marian Barnes and Dr Lizzie Ward of the School of Applied Social Science - ‘Cheers!?’
For research that explored the circumstances in which older people drink and the positive and negative impacts that drinking has on their lives.
Interdisciplinary Research Award
Team of Staff: Professor Adrian Bone, Dr Wendy Macfarlane and Dr Moira Harrison of the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences - ‘Diabetes: Causes, Complications and Cure’.
This research has led to a greater understanding of diabetes and the project team hope to release findings that will drastically reduce the number of people around the world who develop type one diabetes.
Research with Student Involvement Award
Team of Staff: Professor Ann Moore, Professor Peter Burns (School of Service Management), Dr Raija Kuisma, Lisa Hodgson and Mike Ellis-Martin (Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences), all from the School of Health Professions, unless stated - ‘Activity Buddies’.
A programme which pairs physiotherapy students and older people together, with a focus on enabling the elderly to take part in exercise and activities while learning.
