I'm a finalist, why should I attend?
The careers fair offers an excellent opportunity for final year students to gain personal experience of a range of different companies and organisations that are looking to invest in new talent.
I'm not looking for a graduate job right now, why should I attend?
As well as opportunities for jobs, the fair offers more general information on different professions, job application processes and advice for students considering further study or training.
I'm interested in getting work experience, should I attend?
Yes, you should. Although the fair is targeted at graduates and students in their final year, companies specialising in summer placements with small and medium businesses and volunteering projects also attend the event to explain how placements can help build specific skills and confidence.
I want to stay in Brighton after I graduate, should I attend?
Definitely. Local small or medium enterprises use the fair to advertise their businesses, offering insight into the local labour market for students who want to stay in Brighton after they graduate.
I'm not looking for an employer, I want to work for myself
There will also be guidance on freelancing or starting your own business, with ideas for further funding and support.
No-one's interested in recruiting graduates, why should I attend?
The Careers Fair has an excellent track record for student recruitment. Also, many of the employers who now visit the event are University of Brighton and Sussex graduates. This means they understand the kind of information students attending the fair need.
Do I need to prepare before I come to the careers fair?
Yes, absolutely. Check out our pages on making the most of a careers fair and networking. You'll find information on how to make a great first impression and build a fruitful relationship with potential employers.
