Finance and Accountancy Forum

This biennial event offers students the opportunity to find out from finance and accountancy professionals about the routes into the profession and the realities of working within it. The next event will take place in 2013.

The 2011 event

The 2011 event took place in February and included a range of finance and accountancy professionals. The panel of speakers included representatives from:

• Ernst & Young - one of the largest professional services firms in the world and one of the Big Four auditors.
• OSTC - a pan-European trading company operating on regulated financial markets around the world.
• Grant Thornton - the UK's fifth largest accountancy firm.
• London International Financial Futures Exchange (LIFFE) - a futures exchange based in London.
• Santander - the Santander Group is the world’s fourth largest bank by profits, and eighth by stock market capitalisation.
• Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales - a professional membership organisation, supporting over 136,000 chartered accountants around the world.
• Trentham Invest - specialists in providing relationship-based independent financial advice.

Two of the speakers were graduates of the University of Brighton Business School. Each of the professionals spoke about how they qualified and their current job and offered practical advice regarding the graduate job market.
