Career planning in your course
The University of Brighton is a career-focused university and each of our undergraduate courses includes a programme of activities to support career planning.
Some activities are a part of undergraduate modules and some are additions to the main curriculum. The activities are aimed at giving you the skills to:
- assess yourself and review your progress
- research job ideas and occupational information
- make decisions and set goals and action plans
- make the transition to working or training further.
To prepare yourself for the next step after you graduate, you should take full advantage of the career planning opportunities your course offers.
You can read the career planning programme of activities for each course in the course handbook or in the course area of studentcentral.
Personal development plan (PDP)
Each student has the opportunity to develop a personal development plan, known at the University of Brighton as your Studentprofile.
A PDP enables you to reflect on your learning and achievement and to plan for your personal, educational and career development. It is aimed at enabling you to get the most out of your time at university and use all the resources and wider opportunities available to you. It also helps you to connect your time as a student to what you plan to do next.
You have a folder in which to organise all the information that relates to your development and achievements and there are a number or resources to help you create and maintain your personal development plan.
Login to studentcentral and you will find the link to your Studentprofile in the courses area.
