Product Design Engineer (sKTP Associate)

Salary £22,000 - £25,000 per annum depending on qualifications and experience

Do you have the skills to work with a leading swimming pool accessories manufacturer to develop an innovative product design process?

The Role
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and self-motivated graduate to lead and deliver a 48-week project between Plastica Ltd and the University of Brighton.  The project aims to increase profitability by developing a product design process and implementing it to design an automated domestic swimming pool cover which meets the needs of the market, particularly with respect to stringent health and safety legislation.

Plastica Ltd is the UK’s leading manufacturer and provider of swimming pools and accessories. Established for over 40 years, it has a reputation for supplying high quality, competitively priced products to the swimming pool trade in the UK and mainland Europe.  The company manufactures: pool liners; heat retention, solar and winter debris covers; fabricated stainless steel ladders and rails; wooden pools; and water treatment products packed under the Relax brand name or customers’ own brands.  Manufactured products are complemented by a wide variety of wholesale products from supply partners to ensure Plastica offer a comprehensive range of pool accessories.

The Person
The successful candidate will have a Bachelors degree in Product Design or Engineering (minimum 2:1), with the ability to work across both disciplines, along with experience of working in a manufacturing company, possibly in a placement year.  In addition to excellent design engineering skills you should have a thorough knowledge of product design methodologies and innovation pathways, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  You will be an organised, energetic and creative self-starter with the ambition to lead and deliver a strategic project.
