STEM Sussex provides a range of activities and schemes which enable young people in Sussex to engage with science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).
Based within the Centre for Collaboration and Partnership at the University of Brighton, STEM Sussex supports the Government's Agenda for ensuring a good supply of scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians in the UK.
We manage the national STEM Ambassador programme in Sussex, and are responsible for providing advice and guidance on national and regional STEM activities and schemes.
STEM Sussex offers a range of professionally developed STEM enrichment activities and challenges, and teacher CPD sessions.
We also coordinate the British Science Association CREST Award and CREST Star Investigator schemes, the Engineering Education Scheme (EES), and the Nuffield Bursary Scheme.
Crawley STEMfest
STEM Sussex is excited to be coordinating the Crawley STEMfest, which will host this year's Big Bang South East at The Hawth, Crawley, on Thursday 5 July 2012.
The Big Bang South East will provide a fun, action packed day filled with exhilarating shows and interactive workshops that will inspire and engage young people with Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). It will incorporate the regional heats of the National Science & Engineering Competition, a celebration of the achievements and excellence of young people in STEM.
Crawley STEMfest is a partnership of Crawley Borough Council, Central Sussex College and the University of Brighton, through STEM Sussex.
