Teaching

I am Course Leader for BA (Hons) Digital Media and BSc (Hons) Digital Media Development. Subjects I teach at Masters and Undergraduate level include:

  • Standards-based web design and development
  • Information architecture
  • New media and the creative industries

I am external examiner for the following programmes:

  • Digital Media and Media Production, School of Creative Technologies, University of Portsmouth

Awards

In 2009 I was awarded a University of Brighton Excellence in Facilitating/Empowering Learning Award for innovation in web-based content and tools to support teaching.

Research and knowledge transfer partnerships

  • I am a member of the Interactive Technologies Research Group. My research concerns the mediation of collaborative human activity by technology; its use, design, social and cultural impact. From January 2007-January 2009, I worked part time as Senior Research Fellow on a project funded by the Department of Health: Supporting the self-management of obesity: the role of information and communication technologies.
  • Academic partner, with Dr Gulden Uchiygit, in the Posturite Ltd and University of Brighton Knowledge Transfer Partnership.
