Software Engineering MSc
I want to work as a web developer and therefore wanted to ensure the masters that I chose covered the relevant subjects that I need to develop knowledge and skills in this area. This led me to study at the University of Brighton, as the modules for Internet and Distributed Systems are suitable for pursuing a career as a web developer.
I considered the graduate employment record and future job prospects when choosing this course. I also liked the facilities at the university and thought the library and computing equipment were very good.
Having some optional modules within the course programme was also important as I can pick modules (like Computer Forensics,
Intellectual Property, Intelligent Systems) that are most relevant to my future. The course itself differs to my undergraduate learning as I am developing an understanding of different web technologies, and which particular technology will be beneficial for particular industries and companies rather than using general technologies available in the market.
I particularly like using and learning about ASP.NET and other content management system technologies. I also enjoyed the
database system principles, which is related to internet technology. I am nearly half way through this course and already feel that I would recommend it. The tutors are very helpful and the experience that they bring has meant that I am learning even more.
