I undertook full-time employment with one of the big four accountancy firms, Ernst and Young LLP in London a week after I graduated. My first month was very intensive, having to complete three weeks of training; after which I began work as an IT auditor on one of the firm’s priority clients. I started by shadowing colleagues to learn the ropes and the work I will be involved in. Although my learning curve has been steep, I have not felt scared or isolated as everyone so far has been very supportive. I am also involved in graduate recruitment and therefore keep in touch with the placement officer, for news about when EY would hold events so Brighton students can potentially sign up to attend open days or apply for full-time positions/internships. I am grateful for the education I received at the University of Brighton which has allowed me to pursue this career.
