20 new doctoral studentships valued at £58,500 each
Recognised as a ‘rising research star’ following the most recent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008) the University of Brighton is ambitious and determined to take our success to the next level. As part of this commitment the Brighton Doctoral College is providing 60 new doctoral studentships over three years, and has committed funds for 20 new studentships starting in the 2013/14 academic year.
Each studentship will support full-time doctoral study over a three-year period. We now invite applications from across the world for entry in the 2013/14 academic year. The deadline for entry is 4pm on 11 April 2013.

- Cryogenic sprays for reducing road transport emissions
- Visual modelling for the formal specification and interpretation of temporal reasoning and argumentation
Other studentships are available across a range of topics in the arts and humanities, life and physical sciences, and the social sciences.
Transformative research
At Brighton we are committed to delivering transformative research that has real-life positive impacts. We believe in two types of research – research that has been applied and research that will be applied. In RAE 2008 the University of Brighton moved 21 places up the Times Higher Education quality league tables.
Award-winning research support
Our Doctoral College provides an academic and pastoral support network for researchers across the university and is recognised with the prestigious European Commission HR Excellence in Research Award.
