Postgraduate PE students from the Chelsea School hosted over one hundred pupils from partnership secondary schools for an 'alternative activity day' on February 5th.
As part of their teacher training, students were asked to prepare a one hour teaching session for groups of twenty pupils, on a pre-selected topic which included street surfing, kin ball, urban gymnastics, kabbadi, and non-contact boxing. Through these alternative activities trainee teachers were able to develop their knowledge and understanding of a range of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies and how to use and adapt them, including how to personalise learning and provide opportunities for all learners to achieve their potential.
