It’s an honour to represent the university and Chelsea School in particular. There is such a warm and friendly atmosphere. I also became a Student Ambassador last year. I help on open days and evening events alongside offering help to prospective students. It’s great to give something back.”

“I chose to study Sport Coaching BA(Hons). I am really enjoying the course as it allows me to coach a wide range of different sports. I belong to the women’s football team and I enjoy the social side and meeting new people from different courses. Eastbourne has everything you need in a town and it is right by the beach, which is an added bonus. There are so many clubs and societies to get involved with and the facilities at the University are very good.”

Sport and Exercise Science
Ewan McFarlane
“Initially during my studies at sixth form I was undecided whether or not to apply to university. Visiting the Chelsea School of Sport campus gave me a positive image of university life and certainly encouraged me to apply for courses. Having an interest in sport and physiology during sixth form, Sport and Exercise Science seemed an applicable course for me. I was pleased to be offered, and accept my place to study at Brighton, the friendly atmosphere and quaint seaside town was appealing. Eastbourne renowned for a sleepy seaside town comes to life in the evening with several bars and clubs dotted around the town.

“My experience studying of Sports and Exercise Science here at Chelsea School of Sport has been nothing but eye opening. From the helpful and easy going lecturers to the student atmosphere, there is support from all sorts of people as I face each challenge.
The lab facilities are user friendly and clear demonstrations of how to use the equipment are always provided. A lot of the modules are very hands on so using the various machines almost becomes routine.
The opportunity to take part in dissertation studies has also helped me to learn and experience even more on a first hand basis.

“My time at the university so far has been one of the best experiences of my life. I chose to study Sport and Exercise Science at Brighton because it was in the top 15 universities for Sport Science in the country and was the perfect distance from home in Southampton.
When I first visited the Eastbourne campus, I felt a real sense of belonging and a safe vibe. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. Eastbourne is a lovely seaside town, which is close enough to Brighton keeping the big city life a novelty to visit. I was also very impressed with the facilities available at the university, which were much better than other universities I had visited.

“I studied Sport and Exercise Science BSc(Hons) at Chelsea School and have recently graduated. I found many aspects of the course both interesting and inspiring. Settling in to student life in my first year was effortless: meeting fantastic people, enjoying the course, quality nightlife and superb accommodation. Coming from the Midlands, living in a seaside town is also great. I have never regretted studying at the University of Brighton and will be returning to study for a PhD.”

“When I decided to go to University I was convinced I was going to stay at home in Essex and go to a University near me; this opinion changed as soon as I visited Eastbourne. The University was so friendly and helpful and I suddenly felt at ease; a feeling of home. I am currently studying Sport and Exercise Science BSc (Hons) with Physical Education which is exactly what I want to do and will lead me to a PGCE in Physical Education. I enjoy every moment I spend here; my course is amazing and fulfils all my needs and I am very happy I chose the University of Brighton.”

“I was set on going to another university until I experienced a sunny day in Eastbourne: it’s a beautiful part of the country to be a student! I am studying Sport and Leisure Management BA(Hons) and I decided to come to Chelsea because it ticked all the boxes for me; academics at the top of their field, beautiful surroundings, a safe friendly atmosphere and a thriving, diverse sporting network. You have to make sure you choose a university where you want to spend at least three years and I definitely found that here.”

“I am a Sport Journalism BA(Hons) student from Cambridge. Chelsea School is set in a great part of town; and it’s a cracking environment to study in with tree-lined streets in the shadow of the South Downs. I am passionate about sport and love writing, so the course seemed ideal. I have found just being here has opened up all sorts of doors in the journalism world. I was recently offered a part-time role at the local paper- the Eastbourne Herald - and can often be found shivering on the touchline of a nearby sports ground with pen and notepad in hand.”

“I’m 19 and originally come from Oxted in Surrey. I am studying Sport Studies BA(Hons). My goal is to get my degree and then study for a PGCE at Chelsea School which will enable me to teach. Sport Studies is extremely interesting as it not only develops our understanding of sport, but society as a whole and how this affects us as individuals. I would really recommend it. I chose Chelsea School as it’s well known for its sporting reputation and I was also drawn to the friendly, welcoming feel and close-knit community. I work part-time for the Student Union and am in the cheerleading team. Eastbourne is a great place to live, with the beautiful seaside, range of shops and especially important for us students….a lively nightlife.”
