Research seminar

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships

Jennifer Wells
Business Services Information Officer, University of Brighton

Wednesday 3rd March 2010, 1-2pm, Watts Building, Room 504

Abstract

In recent months CMIS has enjoyed particular success with Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) and there is increasing interest in the programme amongst local companies. The aim of the seminar is not just to disseminate information about KTP but to enable you to speak with confidence about the programme and know how it could be applied so that KTP opportunities are not overlooked. The programme offers more than financial incentives with contributions to teaching, the practical application of research and the building of long term partnerships being cited as just a few outcomes.

The main thrust of the seminar will be on KTP as a means of economic engagement, the programme’s distinct features and the benefits to companies as well as yourselves. Shona Campbell, KTP Manager from the CTC, will talk about the mechanics of the programme, its value in financial terms to both parties, criteria for company eligibility and give examples of previous KTP programmes.

Nick Rodgers and Jennifer Wells from Business Development & Enterprise (BD&E) will talk about recognising opportunities: eligible project ideas and how KTP might be applied within a company and to what effect. Richard Griffiths will also speak for a few minutes about his experience as a KTP supervisor.

All Welcome!
