University childcare top of the class

University of Brighton's nurseries have been given top marks in a new Ofsted report, with the inspection confirming that "the quality of provision is outstanding".

Phoenix nursery near Grand Parade and One World nursery at Moulsecoomb offer care to children of staff, students as well as being open to local residents.

Both nurseries had already achieved 'outstanding' status in previous inspections and the latest inspection at One World shows that the hard work and dedication from staff to the children continues to be recognised.

Recording an 'outstanding' grade for every aspects of provision, the report acknowledges the contribution that staff have made to this achievement:

"The staff's in depth-knowledge of each child's needs, inspirational interaction and an extremely effectively organised, highly stimulating learning environment ensure that they are extremely successful in promoting all aspects of children’s learning and welfare."

The report goes on to say: "Staff provide an extremely welcoming, child-friendly, calm and focussed environment where an extensive range of rich varied and good quality equipment and activities effectively challenges children of various ages and abilities."

Sue Boyle, nursery manager at One World, expressed her delight at the latest report: "It's great that the work of our skilful experienced nursery team has been recognised with this judgment. The Early Years are so important and we have a passion for what we do and a very clear vision of what we want to achieve. Our central aim is to support and encourage all the children to reach their full potential in the stimulating, loving, caring and inclusive environment that we offer to them, and to have lots of fun."

One World Nursery and Phoenix nursery provide childcare to children of staff and students as well as those from the local community. Open 45 weeks per year, they offer affordable fees for full and part-time places.
