Britain Tortures Too

The use of torture by Britain since 1945 will be discussed at a two-day conference organised by the University of Brighton.
Leading researchers in history, ethics and in the legal implications of using torture will be speaking at Britain Tortures Too, hosted by the university's Centre for Applied Philosophy, Politics & Ethics.
Bob Brecher, professor of moral philosophy at the university Faculty of Arts, is introducing the conference. Speakers include Ian Cobain of The Guardian, and author of the recently published Cruel Britannia: a Secret History of Torture; Andrews Williams from Warwick University, author of A Very British Killing: the Death of Baha Mousa; Peter Oborne of The Daily Telegraph, Henry Shue from Oxford University, and Heather Widdows from the University of Birmingham.
The conference is run in partnership with The Rendition Project at the universities of Kent and Kingston. It will take place at Amnesty International's UK office in London on 15 and 16 February. Tickets are £30 with a £15 concession for students and unemployed people. You can book tickets online at the events section of the university website.
