Record breakers

A record number of University of Brighton students have been nominated for Student Employee of the Year.
A total of 15 names have been put forward, placing Brighton among the top 15 participating universities in the country.
The competition, run by the National Association of Student Employment Services, celebrates the outstanding contributions and achievements of students who combine part-time work with study commitments.
Sam Rhodes, the university's Head of Careers Service, said: "Students who are able to work part time bring so many benefits to employers who tap into the new ideas, practices and skills students are gaining at university.
"Students also bring flexibility and a variety of experience and insight befitting such a diverse community. Students themselves benefit hugely from gaining, even in the most basic jobs, the key employability skills of communication, time management, team-working, and negotiation that graduate employers demand."
Results of the institutional competition stage will be announced on 14 May and winners will go forward to the regional and national stages over the summer.
