Supporting the transition from school and college: how we can help

More students living in Sussex choose to study at the University of Brighton than any other university. Students at Compact partner schools and colleges can benefit from the support and services we deliver through the Compact no matter which university they are thinking about attending.

Who is the Compact for?

For teaching professionals advising on progression to Higher Education
  • Onging support, advice and training for staff who advise on progression to Higher Education.
  • Activity tailored for your school or college: the Compact is a partnership and we aim to make the activities and support we provide responsive and flexible to the needs of our partner schools and colleges. If you would like us to provide additional activities to meet your specific needs please get in touch.
For parents and carers
  • Presentations addressing specific concerns including understanding student funding and finance; supporting the transition to university and the support students can access at university.
For students
  • Through the Compact we provide impartial information, advice and guidance on making a strong application to higher education.
  • Talks and workshops on applying to university, writing a personal statement, student finance and funding, student life and issues to consider when choosing a university.
  • We deliver the Compact through workshops and activities, tailored to the timetables and requirements of individual schools and colleges and their students.
  • To support students from the widest possible range of backgrounds in making the transition to university we have developed an enhanced package of support delivered through the Compact called the Plus Programme.
  • Student members of the Plus Programme also get priority access to lectures and workshops, summer schools, student shadowing and more.
For students who go on to apply to the University of Brighton
  • Through the Compact students who meet our entry requirements can benefit from guaranteed standard offers or interviews for some University of Brighton courses.
  • Student members of the Plus Programme who go on to study with us may also be eligible for a Compact bursary and opportunities to work part-time for the university.
