More about our university preparation courses
The thing I liked best about my course was the fact that we were really independent; we weren’t stuck to rigid coursework titles, we were allowed to go in the direction we wanted to and explore the subject areas we felt passionate about.
Also, having tutors who were experts in their field was always great as you got practical advice and support from them and you could e-mail them or drop into their rooms whenever you wanted.
My degree was really career-focused. In our final year we had to design, set up and manage our own assessment centres and interviews with our first year mentees. This is a really valuable experience because it meant we got to see the interview process and assessment centre process from the perspective of the employer, so we could see what made a good candidate and what employers are looking for.
Brighton is a great place to live, it is a great place to learn, there’s excellent support and the tutors are great. There are good facilities, the library is excellent and overall you just get the opportunity to study what you want and to go in the direction you want to.
The course was totally geared towards attaining a job after graduation.
The mentoring programme really prepared me for working life. Not only do you get guidance on how to submit a successful job application, but you get first-hand practice on how to conduct yourself in an interview.
My work placement has benefited my career significantly. Having been through the application process, I felt confident when being interviewed for my first graduate role. The feedback I received from interviews all praised my confidence and interview skills. This is all down the practice and advice I was given throughout my time at Brighton.
The careers help I have received has been second to none. The university has provided job vacancy updates, as well as workshops to help with the job application process. Throughout the job search process after university, I have felt fully supported and have been given the tools to attain a job quickly.
Brighton is a great place to study, the lecturers’ doors are always open for extra help outside of class hours. If you want to study in a helpful, friendly and hard working environment then there is no better place than Brighton.
The course exceeded my expectations in that, as well as covering the conventional areas of business, it introduced subjects such as entrepreneurship and environmental economics allowing me to really customise my learning and to have something different to show employers.
I enjoyed learning about real life examples and business case studies and how these were applicable to my studies and our everyday lives. The lecturers have extensive experience in their area of expertise and share many interesting facts which allow a greater understanding of the topic in question.
The job market is extremely tough; without my degree I would be applying to jobs that are far less interesting and much lower paid. My placement has provided me with extra experience and sources of references for my CV as well as providing me with many contacts and the opportunity to return there in the future.
I cannot thank my teachers enough for their support, especially throughout my final year.
