    Business with Enterprise

The boys are back in town

During their studies on Business FdA and Business Management BA(Hons) at the University of Brighton Campus in Hastings, two of our students were developing their own business ideas. They are now running exciting ventures here in Hastings. Here are their stories:

    Brian Adams – Business FdA

“Not only was Hastings campus local which enabled me to study for a degree while undertaking daily responsibilities of a family, it enabled me to realise the opportunities Hastings as a small town has to offer. The all-round support and inspiration I was given during my time at Hastings campus, not just from my lecturers but also the library and technical staff, gave me the enthusiasm and confidence that I could start and run a successful local business. My only regret is that I did not realise sooner the plentiful opportunities Hastings campus has to offer.”

Brian’s business idea, Booter Scooter, was developed during the course and was presented to a panel of employers.

“Booter Scooter is an alternative way to travel, serving Hastings and surrounding areas. We offer to drive your car and you, to your chosen destination safely after a night out. Alternatively, should you be busy working or enjoying your leisure time, one of our drivers will take your car for you, should your car need to visit the garage. Your Car, We Drive.”

Dermot McKeon – Business Management BA(Hons)

“I really appreciate Brighton University opening a campus in Hastings – its location gave me the opportunity to carry on running my business while studying for a Business degree. The lecturers were very supportive and encouraging throughout my studies helping me to both enhance my business and achieve my degree”

Dermot opened his business after his second year, but learned the art of delegation during his final year, as he passed the running of the business to his family.  Dermot is now emulating his success in his degree with his new business Apex Inventories:

“Our role is to help regulate, maintain and enhance the important relationship between landlords and tenants by providing professional and unbiased reports on residential properties before, during and after tenancies, that are beneficial to all parties.”

If you have an entrepreneurial spirit, and feel you can achieve what Brian and Dermot have, then our new Business With Enterprise BSc(Hons) is for you.
