    Course structure

Teaching is largely by lectures, group practicals and individual assignments. Assessment is generally by examination and course work. During your time on the course you will participate in various field courses ranging from geological studies to surveying.

The course also provides the opportunity for an optional work placement year in the UK or Europe. In your final year you will undertake a major project, involving laboratory and/or fieldwork under the guidance of a supervisor. This project is designed to give you a feel for managing a piece of your own research or consultancy work.
