    The computer games sector is dynamic and fast growing. Computer Games Development enables you to develop the solid theoretical and practical skills needed to build robust and reliable interactive games software.

    Areas of study

    You will develop the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to create interactive software that uses 2D and simple 3D graphical images. Students create software solutions using an object-oriented approach to design and analysis. The games industry is studied to give you an awareness of the nature and position of this sector in the computing world. The practical application of skills is emphasised. Cisco network technologies are used, giving a real example for practical aspects of this course.

    A-levels:
    160 points, from a minimum of one 12-unit or two 6-unit qualifications. Relevant A-level subject. Level 3 Key Skills and General Studies will count towards the tariff score. General Studies will count towards the tariff score.

    International Baccalaureate:
    24 points, certificates considered.

    Access to HE diploma:
    acceptable.

    GCSE (minimum grade C) or Access equivalent:
    at least three subjects including English language mathematics.

    For non-native speakers of English:
    IELTS 6.0 overall, 6.0 in writing.

    Other:
    Appropriate industry experience.

    Career opportunities include programming, software development, systems integration and testing, sales support, quality assurance and compliance, and configuration management.

    Successful completion of a foundation degree also allows you progression to an honours degree. If you wish to continue study within the area of games development it is recommended that you consider applying for Computer Science (Games) studied at the University of Brighton.

    The fees listed here are for full-time courses beginning in the academic year 2012-13. Further tuition fees are payable for each subsequent year of study.
