Course structure
The course is fast-paced and highly practical. You will often be working in groups, as you would in industry, but you'll have plenty of opportunity to develop your personal strengths and interests. Assessment will typically be via creation of games and game assets or reporting of your investigation into aspects of the games world.
Areas of study
In your first year you will build up the core technical skills required to create interactive media. In addition, you'll study the principles of game design and apply them by developing game projects.
You will build your skills in creative problem solving and communication, while learning about the history of games and their place in the bigger picture.
In subsequent years you will develop your technical skills, adding project management to the mix, culminating in a major project in your final year.
A key feature of the course is the third year which may be spent on a professional placement.
During your course at University Centre Hastings, you'll have access to industry standard equipment and applications such as Photoshop, 3D StudioMax, Flash and Avid.
